Another unconventional lending using technology. Typical lending would happen through a Bank or a non bank which has a large stable fund source. However in crowd funding, the model is reversed. Instead of using a large single fund source, which is controlled by one entity, fund is sourced from multiple so-called investors who have surplus cash. Typically this is targeted as charities or social benefits with some of them also expecting returns (e.g. Equity crowd funding).

Micro Entrepreneurs in this field are usually farmers, dairy farmers, small carpenters etc. in developing world. Funding usually happens through large charitable organisations such as Bill Gates foundation etc. and has an extremely high agenda on social benefits.
